Pirates Drops to Number 4 But Sails High At UK Box Office (13/08/2003)

After five weeks Pirates has dropped to number 4 at teh US box office, having taken $13 million over the weekend. The grand total so far is $232 million. This makes it one of the highest grossing films of the year so far, beating such films at Terminator 3, Chicago, The Hulk and X2 and far over coming its $125 million budget. Meanwhile the film has been released in the UK over the weekend and gone straight to number one.

Trilogy? (03/08/2003)

Several places are now carrying the rumor that Pirates was written as a trilogy, the last two parts dependant on the success of the first. Allegedly, Johnny, Orlando and Keira are all signed on for the second, which will be about Bootstrap Bill and show Barbossa's mutiny.

Third Week, Still At Number 2 (30/07/2003)

PotC is still going strong, remaining at number 2 in the US box office charts. It's weekend takings of $23 million give it a grand total of $176 million. This figure have surely been boosted by many fans going for multiple viewings....you know who you are....

Dvd Release Date (24/07/2003)

A tentative release date for the dvd has been given as 2nd December.

PotC Drops to Number Two (24/07/2003)

The film has dropped down to number two in it's second week of release. So far the film has made $133 million.

Sequel In The Works (16/07/2003)

E-Online has reported that due to the success of the film, Disney is already planning a sequel with the same cast and crew. To read the full article go here

The European premiere has taken place at the Odeon, Leicester Sq, London. I was there along with Orli and Keira. Check it out here

Pirates Swashbuckles Through The Competition

'Pirates of the Caribbean' is number one at the US box office at the end of its first week of release. It took $46.4m (£27.8m) over the weekend and $70.4m (£42.2m) overall since Wednesday. Read more here
